Santa Claus - The Movie (1985): Actually,
this is not a great movie, but it has an interesting history.
In '85 this was supposed to be the big Christmas blockbuster.
It wasn't, and was, frankly, an embarrassment to the studio.
But it does have a good performance by David Huddleston in
the title role. |

The Grinch
(2000): Not my favorite film, and Jim Carrey doesn't
make much of Santa Claus, but frankly, the pickings are pretty
slim. |

The Santa Clause (1994): Tim Allen
does a good job as a reluctant Santa. |
| 7 |
The Polar Express (2004): In my view, a really creepy movie, but Tom Hanks
does make a pretty good Santa. |
| 6 |
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993): Tim Burton has
created an interesting film with a bit of a grotesque premise,
but his vision of Santa is certainly interesting. How
may skeletons can pull off Santa?? |

Elf (2003): Politically, Ed Asner may
not
be such of a much, but he does make a pretty decent Santa. |

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
(2005): Now here's a Santa Claus! James Cosmo's
Father Christmas brings actual weaponry, which would greatly
please the hero in our No. 3 film. |

A Christmas Story (1983): Think
of how different this movie would have been if Peter Billingsley
had directed his request for a Red Ryder BB gun to Father Christmas
in Narnia
than to Jeff Gillen's Santa? |

Bad Santa (2003):
Hard to think of a more ill-advised Santa than Billy Bob Thornton,
or a more unlikely Christmas movie, but it's well worth seeing
if you're in that "bah humbug" sort of mood. |

Miracle on 34th Street (1947): If you
ever need to get in the Christmas spirit, and It's a Wonderful Life just doesn't do it for you any more, let Edmund Gwenn and
his wonderful portrayal of the real Kris Kringle bring it all
back to you. |
