Bubba Ho-Tep (2002):
One of my personal favorites, but not everyone's
cup of tea. Bruce Campbell and Ossie Davis star
as Elvis Presley and John F. Kennedy -- yes, the real
Elvis and JFK -- who were substituted for doubles. Oh,
and there's a murderous mummy, too. |

|
The Man in the Iron Mask (1998):
Although it stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Louis XVI
and his twin brother Phillipe, the acting of Jeremy
Irons, Gerard Depardieu, John Malkovich and Gabriel
Byrne almost makes up for it. |

Dave
(1993): Kevin Kline stars as the owner of a DC
temp agency whose uncanny resemblance to the comatose
president helps him reach the White House sooner than
he expected. |

|
The Bank Dick (1940):
How can you pass up a W.C. Fields movie? Although
he substitutes for a missing director, it's basically
about other things -- but they're very funny other things. |

|
School of Rock (2003):
Jack Black is the world's most popular and fraudulent
substitute teacher. |

The Return of Martin Guerre
(1982): Gerard Depardieu returns from years away
at war. Or does he?

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956):
Inexplicably left off my original list, this low
budget sci-fi movie about a town overrun by pod people.
A thinly-veiled anti-McCarthy attack that is one
of the better sci-fi movies ever made. |

The Prince and the Pauper (1937):
Erroll Flynn stars in the time-honored Twain classic. |

|
Prisoner of Zenda (1937): One
of the great adventure movies. Ronald Coleman
is asked to risk his life and impersonate Rudolf V when he
is kidnapped before his impending coronation.

The Great Dictator
(1940): One of the great Charlie Chaplin films,
and a great parody of Hitler and his rise to power.
Chaplain plays both the Hitler-like character,
"Adenoid Hynkeland", and the little Jewish
barber who takes his place. A classic.
